Upscale Bar & Grill Serving Carolina Cuisine

Chef Manuel Sequeira and Charleston’s best all-star culinary team work to infuse the Charleston food culture with what is now called “Carolina Cuisine” by critics and locals. This regional style of cooking is defined by personal relationships with local farmers, fisherman, and many other varied purveyors from the bountiful food sources in the Lowcountry, Upcountry, and Appalachian Mountain Areas of the Carolinas. Another component of “Carolina Cuisine” is the use of live fire wood cooking on a grill and spit as well as flame baking in a hearth oven. This culinary style uses a flame fired flattop griddle or plancha for certain fish, meats and local vegetables to create outstanding, one-of-a-kind dishes.

Incredible Charlestonian AtmosphereIMG_5998

The atmosphere and vision of Stars Rooftop & Grill Room was designed with a focus on its historic location at 495 King Street. The owners of Stars utilized the exterior and interior architectural integrity of the original building in the restaurant’s design. Stars was uniquely constructed to preserve a large amount of the existing materials through the process of reuse, reclaim, restore and sustain. High curved booths, one-of-a-kind artisan built chandeliers and sconce lighting, reclaimed Appalachian Walnut wainscoting, a coffered ceiling and custom Terrazzo floors revive the craftsmen décor of the original design of the building.

Stars’ Grill Room was specifically designed for each guest to have a clear view of the exhibition kitchen and live fire wood cooking. The excitement of watching the chefs and the busy grill room filled with guests creates an energetic and lively fine dining atmosphere that you simply have to experience.

A popular staple during the 1930’s and 40’s, a true grill room has a large circular booth directly in front of the cooking line known as the Chef’s Table. The Stars Chef’s Table seats 12 guests and can be reserved for an exciting night of front row dining.
