Stars Rooftop & Grill Room Lights Up Charleston SC

Stars Restaurant Rooftop and Grillroom lights up Charleston, SC! Located on upper King Street, Stars does not limit its amazing views to the beautiful rooftop overlooking the city. In addition to the distinctive architecture inside the restaurant, guests often admire the one-of-a-kind chandeliers that provide the warm ambiance of the Grill Room.

Designed by Stars owner Keith Jones, the chandeliers compliment the restaurant’s artisan and craftsman decor. With a clear vision for the chandeliers in mind, Keith approached Tim and Laura Adams, owners of Sabenati Customs Designs in Savannah, GA to construct the fixtures.  Keith had previously worked with Tim and Laura on the creation of the gorgeous oyster chandeliers that adorn Stars’s sister restaurant, Amen Street Fish and Raw Bar on East Bay Street.

Tim and Laura were able to produce three beautifully crafted, handmade chandeliers made from 100% recycled materials which fit in perfectly with Stars’ commitment to reuse, reclaim, restore and sustain. The elements  used for each fixture came from natural materials combined with metal framework crafted by the owners themselves, which they refer to as “functional art.” Over several months, Tim and Laura consulted with various outside sources to obtain the adequate resources to craft a chandelier unique to Stars. The chandeliers required customized frames and were made with three types of glass: hot pressed, flat and stained leaded glass.

The colors of the stained glass required some patience because Tim and Laura had to make sure the colors could be produced consistently and matched Keith’s request of “Coke bottle green.” The recycled stained glass played a large role in crafting the perfect light fixture. The translucency was also an important factor in order to capture the perfect vibe that Keith wanted the restaurant to deliver to his guests.

In addition to these three chandeliers, there are more than a dozen sconces scattered around the restaurant. The amount of time that went in to each and every fixture is apparent from the exceptional attention to detail these brilliant structures possess. In two words, Tim and Laura would describe their chandeliers in Stars as “sophisticated” and “unique.”

We invite you to Stars to enjoy the beautiful views both on the rooftop and in our dining room.  To reserve your table, please call our restaurant at 843-577-0100 or visit us online.
