Stars Grill Room - Stars Restaurant

Stars Grill Room offers seasonally inspired cuisine using locally sourced ingredients, sustainable seafood, steaks, and specialty dishes prepared on a live wood-fired grill and rotisserie.

Located on Upper King Street, Charleston’s iconic downtown dining and entertainment district. Housed in a restored historic Arts and Crafts building, Stars upscale bar and grill serves signature Carolina Cuisine in a stunning 1930’s-style Grill Room with a gorgeous Walnut Bar.

The cuisine

The cuisine of Stars Grill Room is based on the foundation of “live fire cooking.” Our form of live fire cooking is fueled by red oak wood from Wadmalaw Island, SC. This locally sourced red oak provides the ideal coal bed for correctly cooking the diverse array of items offered on our menu.

The wood-burning grill and rotisserie known as the “Grate of Hell” was designed specifically to prepare our unique cuisine. The vision of this grill was carried out by one of the finest grill makers around, J & R Manufacturing out of Mesquite, TX. Our grill was hand-built to meet the needs of our highly skilled culinary team. This truly one of a kind grill possesses the ability to cook rotisserie items, steaks, fish, and vegetables all at the same time.

The raw materials selected to prepare the cuisine at Stars Grill Room are all locally sourced from the farmers, fisherman, & purveyors of Charleston, SC and surrounding southern cities. Our menu reflects the flavors of the season and changes accordingly as produce, seafood, & livestock are available in their peak of freshness. Signature items such as the Wood Grilled Smoked Ribeye, Live Fire Rotisserie Chicken, and the Ocean Harvest are items that truly define our cuisine.

The chef’s table

A popular staple during the 1930s and 40s, a true grill room has a large circular booth directly in front of the cooking line known as the Chef’s Table.

The Stars Chef’s Table seats 12 guests and can be reserved for an exciting night of front-row dining.
