Five Questions with  Stars Rooftop & Grill Room Intern: Alyssa1656083_696039643791877_5950138011361712904_n

We’re excited to announce the addition of a new face to the Stars event coordination team! Alyssa Dudley is a senior this year, majoring in Communications at the College of Charleston.

Why did you want to work at Stars?

Stars has a very well-known reputation in Charleston for their food, as well as their events. As a student, it was important for me to find a job that would support me while in school, and also help me acquire the knowledge and skills I’ll use upon graduating and becoming a full-time event coordinator.

What do you hope to learn in your time at Stars?

While I’m here, I hope to become a more skilled server, and also to learn more about event management using a hands-on approach that you can’t find in a classroom. I hope to come out of this internship with an understanding of every aspect of event management within a successful restaurant.

What do you think makes Stars one of Charleston’s best event venues?

Stars provides potential clients with a multiple event spaces, and offers various dining options, and this flexibility makes planning events fun. The view from the rooftop doesn’t hurt either!

What is your favorite menu item at Stars?

Our new scallop dish. It’s served with scallop-infused creamed corn, roasted cauliflower and an heirloom tomato salad – it’s delicious!

What interested you about event management?

I do a lot of volunteering, and through that I’ve coordinated several fundraising events. I love the excitement and ever-changing tasks in my day-to-day routine. I’ve never seen myself sitting behind a desk from 9-5, and event management gives me the opportunity move around and meet new people every day.

Welcome, Alyssa!
