Stars A Sponsor for Charleston Chefs Showdown Benefiting Feed the Need

Stars Rooftop & Grill Room is proud to be a sponsor of  Charleston Culinary Tours’ Charleston Chefs Showdown: North vs. South.  A benefit for local charity, Feed the Need, the event takes place on Thursday, May 9th from 6:30 -9:30 p.m. at the Maritime Center located at 10 Wharfside Street in Charleston, SC.   We hope you will join us in cheering on Stephen Ollard, Executive Chef of our sister restaurant, Amen Street, as he teams up with Chef Ross Webb of Leaf Cafe  to battle against Chefs Trey Stabler of Five Loaves Cafe and Shay MacDonald of HoM  to raise money for this fantastic charity!

The competing chefs will go head to head in a series of cook-offs to determine who will be named the champion.  Guests will be able to watch the live competition and view the judging panel in action. Judges include Stephanie Barna of Charleston City Paper, Josh Keeler of Two Boroughs Larder and Ken Emery of Burwells.

Spectators can enjoy a variety of delicious Charleston delicacies offered by sponsoring restaurants that include Southend Brewery & Smokehouse, Stars Rooftop & Grill Room, Amen Street, Leaf, Sweet CeCe’s, Kaminsky’s, HoM, Sugar Bakeshop, Lowcountry Bistro, Five Loaves Cafe, The MacIntosh, all while enjoying live entertainment from The Bushels.

Proceeds will benefit Feed the Need, a coalition of Charleston area chefs who are committed to helping local shelters feed the hungry.  Feed The Need was created to eliminate some of the economic burden that area soup kitchens and shelters are facing in today’s economic environment. The goal of Charleston Chefs Feed The Need is to serve approximately 500 meals per week using four different service venues. In Charleston, South Carolina, 52 restaurants have come together to make this effort possible. They rallied to each commit to one day of food service, 52 weeks per year, at four local nonprofits—Tricounty Family Ministries, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, Crisis Ministries and Neighborhood House. Meals are prepared in the restaurant’s kitchen and delivered and served by the restaurant’s staff.

Tickets for Charleston Showdown: North vs. South are $100 per person and available on eTix or by calling 843-259-2966.
