Here are some special holiday events happening in downtown Charleston that you won’t want to miss:
December 1st, Charleston Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony – Just a few blocks away from Stars Restaurant in Marion Square, Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. and Santa Claus will be lighting the magnificent 60-foot Tree of Lights, the official City of Charleston Christmas Tree. The event is from 4:30-6:00 p.m.
December 1st, Parade of Boats – A display of lighted and festive boats proceeds from the Cooper River, through the Charleston Harbor and into the Ashley River, culminating in a brilliant fireworks display over the harbor. Viewing from the peninsula begins at 6:30pm; Fireworks begin at approximately 6:45pm.
December 2, Charleston Christmas Parade – The holiday tradition is better than ever as bands, floats, marchers and performers parade through downtown Charleston. The parade begins at the intersection of Calhoun and Meeting Streets, proceeds down King Street to Broad Street to Lockwood Blvd., 2- 5 p.m.
December 2, University Chorus Concert – The College of Charleston department of music. Recital Hall, 54 St. Phillip St. 4 p.m. Free. 843-953-6527
Ongoing, The Sound of Charleston, Special Holiday Edition – Concerts are staged at the beautiful and historic Circular Church at 150 Meeting Street. All concerts are from 7:00 – 8:15 pm.
